Hi, I’m Dr Sandra Sattler, an art historian and Indologist specialising in the goddess tradition of South Asia, with a focus on medieval textual and material culture. I completed my DPhil at SOAS, University of London, and have held positions as a curator and senior lecturer at the British Museum and SOAS. Betweeen 2024-2025, I’m a J. Gonda Postdoctoral Fellow at Leiden University, where my research explores the role of the Goddess in the hill-fort of Kālañjara. My academic background includes studies at the University of Göttingen and a Fulbright Fellowship at UC Berkeley. For more than a decade, I have lectured widely on the art, religious, and cultural history of South Asia.
